Jetour Kenya buying guide: Dashing, X70 Plus, T1 or T2? buying guide

Begin with the requirement and a VIN-specific quote

Before comparing screens or styling, write down regular passengers, parking space, routes and the cost ceiling. Then obtain a dated quotation for the exact Jetour model, trim and chassis. This Kenyan seller's lineup checked on 7 October 2026 lists Dashing from KES 4.3 million, X70 Plus at KES 4.7 million, T1 Aspire at KES 6.0 million, T1 Odyssey at KES 7.5 million and T2 Odyssey at KES 7.86 million. These are advertised asking prices; require the seller to specify taxes, registration, accessories, delivery and any other included charges.

Compare the finished cost rather than a headline deposit or an attractive monthly instalment. If financing, request the cash price, deposit, term, interest basis, all fees, any final payment and total repayment. Obtain a separate insurance quotation for the actual vehicle and use. A current advertised price table is useful for selecting appointments; the written quote should decide affordability.

Use each model for the reason it exists

For a mainly urban five-seat requirement, begin with Dashing. Try the driver's view, reversing, parking sensors or cameras if fitted, phone integration and the controls needed while driving. Inspect access to your own parking area rather than choosing only from a showroom. The live South African Dashing reference table distinguishes several trims; this comparison uses its Prestige variant rather than combining their equipment. It does not confirm every Kenyan car's exact build.

For seven passengers, begin with X70 Plus and bring the passengers. Set the front seats correctly, then arrange both rear rows for real occupants. Test entry, restraints, child-seat installation where applicable and ventilation. Load the luggage normally carried with all seats occupied. The live South African X70 Plus reference table provides a named Prestige specification, but folded-seat luggage capacity should not be mistaken for usable luggage room with seven people aboard. Its clearance differs from the local seller description, so request Kenya-specific documentation for that field.

For T1, make the drivetrain a written part of the quotation. The seller listing distinguishes 2WD Aspire from 4WD Odyssey. Confirm it through the build sheet and the actual vehicle. A 2WD purchase can be sensible for paved use; a buyer who needs four-wheel drive should not infer it from body styling or a generic model description.

For T2, bring both the route brief and a tape measure. Test the parking space, rear access and the footprint with the spare-wheel assembly considered. If towing, water crossings or difficult terrain are essential requirements, obtain the exact manual and approval figures before purchase. Terrain modes and a substantial appearance do not supply a tow rating, a recovery attachment rating or a conventional low-range gearbox.

Resolve the specification differences before paying

Require a Kenya-market specification document tied to the VIN, including engine output, transmission, drivetrain, tyre size and safety equipment. The global T1 table and South African T1 table describe materially different outputs and transmission choices. The global T2 table is another reference, not a certificate for all locally offered vehicles.

The same caution applies to Dashing and X70 Plus. Jetour South Africa's update notice says its newer versions use different outputs and a seven-speed DCT rather than the older six-speed specification. Do not combine one market's power figure, another trim's equipment and a Kenyan seller's model name into a fictitious vehicle. Ask the seller to explain any conflict in writing and keep unresolved fields unverified.

Check airbags, curtain coverage, stability control, driver-assistance functions and anchorage points individually. Equipment can vary by trim in the cited manufacturer material. Have the seller demonstrate the installed features and supply the relevant operating instructions. Your demonstration should establish what the actual unit has and how you will use it, rather than borrowing a feature list from another market.

Put after-sales arrangements in writing

Jetour Kenya's genuine-parts enquiry page gives an identifiable local route through Global Motors Centre. Ask for the service schedule and priced maintenance items for the exact model. Request written availability and lead times for filters, brake parts, a windscreen, headlamp and body panel. Confirm which workshop can diagnose the transmission and electronic systems, and how work under warranty is authorised.

The distributor contact page lists Nairobi on I.C.D Road off Mombasa Road while marking several other towns' service points as coming soon. Confirm the current workshop location when booking. An owner in another county should establish recovery, transport, diagnostic and replacement-vehicle arrangements rather than assume that the listed future branches are already operating.

Read the full Kenyan warranty, including duration, distance limit, exclusions, servicing conditions and transferability. Ask who provides it and whether it covers the actual route and use. A South African warranty, service plan or engine-warranty headline does not automatically apply to a Kenyan sale. Retain written responses with the purchase documents and service records.

Build a budget that can survive ordinary use

Allow for scheduled service, tyres, insurance, finance and a reserve alongside fuel. Ask for the fitted tyre size and price a replacement set locally. Check the spare and the tools, and clarify whether any tyre or wheel damage affects warranty claims. For a vehicle used on rough access roads, add inspection and cleaning arrangements according to the exact manufacturer's maintenance instructions; no guessed service interval is provided here.

Use a fuel scenario openly. Monthly kilometres × assumed litres per 100 km ÷ 100 gives the litres required; multiply by the current town-specific petrol price. EPRA explains the monthly pricing framework. Manufacturer brochure consumption is a reference claim and will not establish the cost of your own traffic pattern, payload or driving. Once purchased, replace the budget assumption with measured fill-to-fill use over several representative journeys.

For a privately imported unit, KRA's procedure identifies right-hand-drive, age and appointed pre-export inspection requirements. Confirm the exact vehicle's eligibility and warranty status before shipping; a dealer-supported locally supplied unit and a private import can have different after-sales responsibilities.

Make the final demonstration representative

Book a drive with the family or colleague who shares the vehicle. Try normal low-speed manoeuvres, a hill start, a lawful open-road section and an appropriate rough surface where permitted. Listen, observe and record how the actual unit behaves; this guide does not supply invented road-test impressions. Have a technician investigate warning lights or unexplained vibration before taking delivery.

Compare alternatives at a similar delivered price and for the same task. Five-seat urban SUVs, seven-seat family SUVs and working four-wheel drives should each be assessed against their own requirements. Keep the model-specific quote, equipment list, support terms and demonstration notes together. Buy the Dashing, X70 Plus, T1 or T2 that earns its place through that evidence rather than treating the whole lineup as one vehicle with one score.
